The stunning scenic wilderness of the western Highlands is renowned in song and story. At its heart: Ardnamurchan - reeking of history, a haven for walkers, a treasure for geologists and arguably the most beautiful area of Scotland for visitors who particularly savour an unspoilt environment. The family-run Ben View Phoenix Hotel, by Strontian, offers the idyllic base to explore Ardnamurchan and surrounding areas.
The Ben View Phoenix nests amongst many Corbetts, the most splendid is Ben Resipol standing behind the hotel at 2,700 feet. A short 300 metre walk takes you down to the beautiful crystal water of Loch Sunart which flows along the southern shores of Ardnamurchan into the sound of Mull and the
Atlantic ocean. The loch is a haven for otters, seals, oyster catchers and curlews.
The hotel boasts a setting renowned for buzzards, golden eagles, red deer, pine marten and the occasional wildcat. A paradise for walkers, birdwatchers, fishermen and those just wanting a little piece of heaven. Pleasant drives take you to historic ruins and castles, golden beaches and visitor centres. At the end of the day return to enjoy the view in the pine panelled bar, or relax in the hotel sauna and hot tub. Then enjoy home cooked cuisine in the residents' dining room. We use the best of local produce including venison, beef, salmon and shellfish.
Hearty breakfasts await guests, where the personal touch caters for individual requirements. The Hotel's nine en-suite bedrooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and hairdriers. TVs are not provided in the rooms. Our residents' lounges are very warm and comfortable; one has a TV with limited sky Freeview channels and the other is more intimate with books and magazines to read for those seeking a bit of peace
and quiet. With Ben View Phoenix as a resting place guests will appreciate comfort, excellent food and very friendly staff making a holiday to remember in one of the world's most memorable corners.
